With the sudden surge in popularity of thrift stores, most people understand thrifting can become a full-time job. The size of most thrift shops, coupled with the density of the stock, can mean you’re sifting through racks for hours. Even after putting in all those hours, with the larger vintage shops, there’s still a chance you won’t find anything you fall in love with. Luckily, there are vintage shops in Los Angeles where every time, you find the missing link to your wardrobe.
Our Personal Top Five Favorite Vintage Shops in L.A.:
5. Iguana Vintage Clothing:
Iguana has three locations, Hollywood, Pasadena and Sherman Oaks. All three locations are fairly large, however, everything is categorized into sections of what you may be looking for, and nothing in there is a fashion nightmare. If you’re looking for a unique, fun and original costume, Iguana Vintage should definitely be the first place you look.
4. Hidden Treasures:
Hours should be set aside for this vintage shop just based on the location. Tucked away in the Topanga Canyon, this adorable shop almost doubles as a shop of curiosities. The prices are fairly steep but they do have something for everyone.
3. Buffalo Exchange – La Brea:
With chain stores like Buffalo Exchange, their stock is based solely on who the clientele is that is selling the store their clothes. The La Brea location has the perfect balance between high-end designer vintage and the freaky weird. And in true Buffalo Exchange fashion, the threads can work for anyone’s budget.
2. Paper Moon Vintage:
One word comes to mind when thinking about this Los Feliz vintage shop: dreamy. Mainly focusing on clothes from the 20s – 50s, this shop can help you find that classic dress you’re looking for. And that iconic giant paper moon in the store? You can rent it out for photobooths!
1. Painted Bird:
This vintage store in Silverlake dominates “California cool” with a sharp edge. Owners Sunny and Nate first opened the store in San Francisco, then in 2005 came to spread their wings in LA.
